Uganda, December 4, 2024 – In a pivotal move towards modernization and sustainability, Tutator and Eco Brixs strengthen their partnership with a visit from the founders of the Tutator foundation, Gilles and Marie Concordel, to Eco Brixs’ operations in Uganda. Through the development of an innovative digital application that optimizes data management and operational processes, Tutator and Eco Brixs aim to enhance the impact of Eco Brixs’ community recycling program in this African country.
During their visit, Tutator’s representatives gained an in-depth understanding of Eco Brixs’ working model, starting at the headquarters in Masaka City, where they were introduced to the comprehensive process that turns collected plastic into recycled materials, reinvesting the proceeds into a sustainable cycle. This process has allowed them to recycle over 1,000 tons of plastic and create employment for more than 3,000 people.
The delegation also visited Kalangala Island, where one of the collection centers is located. This key location allows local residents to exchange plastic for economic incentives. This initiative not only combats plastic pollution but also empowers local communities, improving their quality of life and contributing to environmental clean-up efforts.
The new digital application, developed by Tutator’s team, will enable Eco Brixs to record and analyze impact data in real-time, eliminating the need for manual records and significantly reducing processing times. According to Andy Bownds, CEO of Eco Brixs, “This tool will enhance our ability to quickly understand and respond to the needs of our communities, optimizing plastic collection and facilitating more efficient planning for future expansions.”
For his part, Gilles Concordel emphasized the importance of this collaboration: “At Tutator, we are committed to amplifying the impact of social organizations. Our partnership with Eco Brixs is a perfect example of how technology can drive sustainable change, improving the lives of thousands of people while helping preserve the environment.”
With the launch of this application scheduled for the end of 2024, Tutator and Eco Brixs are laying the groundwork for a replicable model that tackles both environmental and social challenges, marking a milestone on the path towards a more sustainable future for the communities of Uganda.
