Nodo - Ayuda en Acción
Description
Ayuda en Acción and its partner cooperatives in rural Nicaragua relied mostly on manual records and worked with limited internet access. This made it harder to trace dairy products, apply consistent quality controls and reach higher-value markets. Unreliable connectivity and varying levels of digital literacy also complicated routine work and made it harder to give buyers reliable information. Nodo is now in use in Nicaragua. Designed for low-bandwidth settings, it helps cooperatives digitize records, trace products through the dairy value chain and use more reliable data to improve operations and product quality. Better records can also support market access and more resilient livelihoods for small-scale producers.
The solution
Rural development
Cooperatives use Nodo to record milk deliveries, track production and processing, and manage dairy inventory and sales. Teams can capture data online or offline and consult production and performance reports, giving them a clearer view of daily operations even where connectivity is limited.
Social and economic justice
Clear records of what each producer delivers help cooperatives document contributions and manage payments and advances. Tools designed for rural settings make it easier for small-scale producers to participate. More reliable records can strengthen trust across the dairy value chain and help producers pursue new market opportunities.
